Hotspots, such as cafes/retail, can hand out pre-paid cards to customers who purchase their products in order to encourage business, yet prevent free-loaders from hanging out, to use the wireless network, all day.

Venues can set the number of minutes of access allowed for each card, so that after the pre-determined amount of time, a user associated with a pre-paid code is automatically logged out.

Hotspot providers can promote their business/location by distributing or advertising pre-paid codes with Free or Low-Cost trial use periods, then later introduce fee-based cards with longer access times. Or offer access as a Free Amenity!

Seasonal businesses, ie RV Parks/Resorts, may want to offer "Season Specials" at 3 month or 6 month access for a special discount price.    Of course, no price is marked on the cards and you can charge any price you choose - even Free.
